Pre- and post-doctorate positions offered by the PRHLT-ITI group PDF Print E-mail

THE CALL FOR THESE POSITIONS IS NOW CLOSED

The Pattern Recognition and Human Language Technology (PRHLT) group of the Instituto Tecnologico de Informatica (Universidad Politecnica de Valencia) invites applications for several pre- and post-doctoral positions in the fields of Multimodal Interaction, Pattern Recognition, Computer Vision and Human Language Technology. PRHLT is one of the seven research groups participating in the CONSOLIDER- INGENIO 2010 programme: "Multimodal Interaction in Pattern Recognition and Computer Vision" (MIPRCV - http://miprcv.iti.es).

MIPRCV establishes a five-years research programme to develop Pattern Recognition and Computer Vision approaches that explicitly deal with the challenges and opportunities entailed by the human-interaction paradigm.  Based on these approaches, it also aims at implementing actual systems and prototypes for a number of important applications. The ultimate goal is to show how existing PR and CV technologies can naturally evolve to help the development of advanced multi-modal interactive systems that will realize the long standing promises of a seamless synergy between persons and machines.

This is a pre-announcement for a number of job positions, which will open soon, under the umbrella of the MIPRCV programme.  The positions, necessarily based in Spain, will range from 2 to 5 years, yearly renewable, depending on the subjects chosen and the CV of the applicants.  The gross annual salary will be around 26,000 Euros for post-doc positions and around 16,000 Euros of junior graduates or engineers, also depending on the proposed developments and experience of the applicants.  In addition, generous allowances are available to support presentation of work at international conferences and to attend seminars and tutorials. The successful pre-doctoral applicants will have opportunities to start or continue PhD research work in the above mentioned areas. Yearly renewal of contracts will be conditional on satisfactory progress, which is reviewed every year.

A formal announcement with further details will appear soon. Further information can be obtained from the PRHLT group PI Dr. J.M. Benedi (jbenedi at dsic.upv.es).
